Our Journey and Growth

At The Montessori Academy, our journey began in 2020 during the pandemic with just four students. We have since grown to serve over 100 families who share our belief in quality early childhood education. This rapid growth reflects the demand for nurturing, child-centered learning environments. With a second location opening soon in Mutiara Heights, we are prepared to meet the needs of families in Kajang seeking exceptional education and childcare.

Meet Our Founder

Ms. Sharon Lazarus, Founder of The Montessori Academy, brings over ten years of expertise in Early Years Education, Child Psychology, Counselling, and Montessori pedagogy. She holds an Early Childhood Diploma, is AMI 3-6 certified, and is a registered therapeutic play practitioner with Play Therapy UK/International. She has worked extensively with children aged 4 to 12, focusing on their mental health, emotional intelligence, and holistic development.

She founded The Montessori Academy with a mission to champion childhood and support families. In addition to leading a dedicated team of educators, many of whom hold degrees and advanced qualifications, she is also affiliated with UNICEF and has been an active member of MERCY Malaysia for over 15 years.

Her vision is to elevate the role of educators in early childhood and ensure children grow in safe, secure, and joyful environments. She emphasizes the development of emotional intelligence (EQ), with 90% of a child’s EQ formed within the first six years—critical for both academic success and personal growth. At The Montessori Academy, the goal is to nurture both academic and emotional development, preparing children for lifelong success.

Our Philosophy

Inspired by Dr. Maria Montessori’s work, our approach nurtures a love of learning while supporting academic, social, and emotional growth. We focus on holistic development, encouraging curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking to prepare children for their next educational steps and life. In our peaceful environment, children learn through collaborative play, sensory activities, and real-world experiences, building independence and creativity.

From the beginning, Sharon (the owner) has been very accommodating and accepted the enrolment of my child even if it was only for 8 months (we were visiting from overseas). My child had a smooth transition with the change of daycare and felt comfortable with the teachers, the centre and the Montessori education.
